Excellent idea!
Excellent drawing!
I've recommended you based on this drawing. Keep it coming!

Brilliant art

P.S
Bioshock infinite was a major disappointment.

This is excellent!! Perfect!!

Do you mind giving a tip?
What is your technique of making shiny reflective metal?
I really like the way that effect turned out in your illustration.

Thank you.

That's brilliant!!

However, I'm sorry to bring a negative.
I don't agree with position of his right arm. It doesn't match his right leg and chest.
Other than that it's excellent!

Taburah responds:

Thank you for the feedback. The arm is out of place just because I wanted it to look like in the cartoon, I do agree with you thou

Hey, really good work

I really like the shiny thing going on. Could you give me a tip please?
What was your process regarding lighting?
Did you have two light sources?
Is that why he has a dimmer light on the left side of his face and a stronger light on the right hand side?

Thanks.

matinat0r responds:

hey, thanks for writing,

first thing i did was block in the base colours roughly, before also roughly blocking in the darks. I usually do this with big simple shapes and zoomed out so I can see the figure as a whole, keeping me from losing myself in unneeded detail. Then I go in and go over segments individually, rendering everything fully.

you are correct, there are two light sources, the one from the left is dimmer but also plays a bigger part in defining the 3D form. the second light (rim light) source acts to make the figure 'pop out', and can help emphasize the silhouette. There is also a little bit of reflected light around in the darks.

hope this helped!

His face reminds me of Leon from resident evil 4

Excellent piece!

Very nice work mate.

I'm sorry to have to bring negatives but there are 3 that I can see:

1) The bottom left arm socket doesn't position itself symmetrically with its counter part.
2) The central line of the thorax of the beetle is slightly tilted to the right
3) Again the location of the beetles right eye doesn't match with its counter part.

Other than that I think you produced an excellent piece of art.

The water is brilliant! Do you have any tips on how to make it look realistic and wet?

What I do currently is draw a water shaped drop and reduce its opacity then use the burn/dodge tool to "make it round"

Finally I add in a layer of white for reflections which I then smudge to get the desired effect?

I would appreciate your technique.

Thanks.

Ravish261 responds:

Hey thanks!! What I do is draw the outline of the drop with a 100% opacity hard brush then erase from the inside using a soft low opacity round brush. Next ill paint inside the droplet with the background color but ill lighten it. After that ill add the hard highlight on top and one on the bottom from where the light passes through it, add a highlight on the ground and a shadow around the bottom then just use a soft round brush to add the shine. Hope this helps!

I really like this one out of your gallery. I love the detail and how you have managed to keep every part of the forest interesting. One question though, I couldn't figure out what the blue glow was? What's it meant to be?

That's really good! Reminds me of Zelda for some reason!
